Pumpkins, Gourds, Mums, Oh My!

Wilson Farms. It is one of those places you go to when you desire fresh fruits and vegetables as well as fresh herbs and plants for your garden. During the spring and summer, I enjoy going early in the morning and watching the fields being worked. Fresh dark soil, sprinklers, tractors. Yep its a farm alright. This time of year Wilson Farms is the place to go for your WARM apple cider donuts, mums, pumpkins and all kinds of gourds. By mid- afternoon on a Saturday or Sunday you can't get near the place. Gee I wonder why?

After a recent visit to Wilson's I was all excited about fall. It was a warm, sunny fall day. It was the perfect day to make pumpkin bread. Something simple to make. But full of those yummy pumpkin flavors and wonderfully moist.

What surprises me is how off the baking time is in the recipe! The recipe says 30 - 40 minutes. It is actually closer to an hour. This is not a "Martha" recipe. But the end result is definitely Martha worthy.

This was the last of my tried and true pumpkin recipes. I am going to find a new one this year. I will let you know how I make out.
